Psychotherapist/Family Life Specialist

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Maryland and a Nationally Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE). I am a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), The Association of Black Psychologists, and The Eastern Sociological Association.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Oakwood University, a Master's of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University, Ph.D. Candidacy in the field of Counseling Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University, and a Ph.D. in Family Studies from the University of Maryland, College Park.

In addition to providing therapy, I am a college professor for the University of Maryland (UMUC) and Argosy University. I teach an upper-level undergraduate parenting course and graduate level counseling psychology courses. Furthermore, I have instructed courses in the field of counseling education and family studies at the Pennsylvania State University and the University of Maryland (UMCP).

I have been invited to give professional presentations at national conferences and to be a guest lecturer on a variety of topics, including but not limited to: the impact of economic hardship on the parenting of single mothers, the art of stress management for single parents, the development of culturally appropriate services for Haitian families, family homelessness, ... On Capitol Hill, I have represented the American Psychological Association in Congressional briefings aimed at promoting policies to eliminate barriers to mental health services for minority families.
